Terms of Service
Last updated 10 September 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Yelbuh, a sole proprietorship, who publish CooknList. Making an account means accepting them. They are written plainly on purpose; if something is unclear, ask us at hello@cooknlist.com before agreeing rather than after.
Your account
You need to be at least 16 to use CooknList. Keep your password to yourself; anything done with your account is treated as done by you. Give us an email address you can actually open, since that is how we confirm your account, reset your password and confirm a deletion.
What you may not do
- Extract our food and nutrition database in bulk, whether by scraping, automated requests or otherwise. Look things up as a person cooking; do not harvest the tables.
- Resell access to CooknList, or share one account across a group to avoid paying.
- Upload anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to upload.
- Attempt to break, overload or circumvent the service, its limits or its security.
- Use the app to send anyone unwanted messages.
Your content
What you save stays yours. We do not claim ownership of your recipes, photographs, plans or notes. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your content, show it back to you, and show it to the specific people you choose to share it with. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
Recipes you import
When you save a recipe from a website, the original remains the work of whoever published it. We store your copy so you can cook from it, keep the link so the source can be opened and credited, and never present it as ours. If you publish or share an imported recipe, that is your decision and your responsibility. If you are a publisher and want a link removed, write to us.
Subscriptions
CooknList has a free plan and a paid plan, Premium, sold monthly or yearly. Payment is taken by Stripe when you subscribe and renews automatically at the same interval until you cancel.
- Cancelling is done in the app, under Account. There is no form to fill in and nobody to persuade. You keep Premium until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then return to the free plan.
- Nothing is deleted when you cancel. Content beyond the free plan’s limits stays where it is; you simply cannot add more until you are under them again.
- Tax is added where it applies, based on the billing address you give us, and shown before you pay.
- A failed payment does not end your subscription at once. Premium continues for a short grace period while you update your card, and we email you when this happens.
- Price changes will be emailed to you at least 30 days before they take effect, and you can cancel before then.
Refunds are covered separately in our refund policy.
The free plan
The free plan is genuinely usable and we intend to keep it that way. Its limits are shown in the app and may change as the service does. If we reduce them, we will not delete anything you have already saved.
Nutrition information
Nutrition figures come from published reference datasets and, for packaged goods, from barcode databases and from labels you photograph. They are estimates, given for general information.
CooknList is not medical advice and is not a substitute for a doctor or dietitian. Do not rely on it to manage a medical condition, an allergy, or anything where being wrong would matter. Always read the actual packet for allergens. If you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are making a significant change to how you eat, talk to a professional.
Availability
We work to keep CooknList running and to keep your data safe, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption, or that it will be free of faults. We may change, suspend, or add features. If we ever discontinue the service, we will give reasonable notice and a way to export what you have saved.
Ending it
You can close your account whenever you like, from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first. If we close your account without cause, we will refund the unused part of any subscription.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, CooknList is provided as it is, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, or for lost data beyond what we can restore. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep every right your local consumer law gives you, and nothing in these terms takes those away.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use CooknList after that means accepting the new version; if you would rather not, you can cancel and close your account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, and the courts of the Province of Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any right you have to bring a claim where you live.
